Are Freebies Really Free?

August 20th, 2008 by conductor

I have noted online auto insurance quotes late that there are plenty of people out there offering free stuff. But are you really being offered something for nothing or is there Intheminor catch?

Late last year I started searching for real freebies. You know stuff that you can use. Most of the things I looked for were things that I Coffee Makers use to build my business. Lets face it the more free stuff that is reliable that I can get the better. For me it is all about increasing my online sales so I can be financially free.

So what should you look for when looking at freebie claims? Here is my list of what to look for:

1. If there is a free period for you to use the product or service great but beware - don’t give out your credit card details ’cause sure as eggs they will debit your card as soon as the free period is over. On the other hand if it is free for a period of time and you are not expected to give over your credit card give it a whirl. When the free period is over you can make an educated assessment as to whether it is worth purchasing or subscribing too. Oh and here is a hint - get yourself a yahoo, gmail or hotmail account so any possible junk mail is filtered.

2. Look for free products and services that don’t offer a timed free period. There are plenty out there that are well worth signing up for. Better still they don’t hammer you with junk mail. Many of these free services offer extra service for a fee that you can choose to subscribe to as an ongoing thing or as a once off.

3. If you are looking at items that are to be physically delivered to an address beware. (eg: product samples). Often you are expected to pay the postage/freight. You can spend a heap of time on the site to find once you get to the “purchase” they ask for your credit card to slug you with postage/freight. Also if you do get free items delivered either use a post box or a work address - you just cannot be too sure. Now in saying this there are some genuinely fantastic products that you can get for free and it is really worth paying the freight on with the savings you make. One example is printing of business cards - I have found this is a great for start out business.

4. Digitally delivered items can be a bit of a worry. Genuine businesses will often offer you free e-delivered products. That is fine but if you are getting stuff you did not subscribe to find your local authority and forward a complaint. Only ever accept digitally delivered products that you have acknowledged subscription to - normally as a confirmation email.

In a nutshell I recommend you look low mortgage rate refinance carefully at the fine print before you leap into anything that states it is free. I have made it quite easy for you I have a list of recommended free sites. These include business promotion, free products and more. I have tested everything and use or have use 95% of them so it is up to you now to decide what you would like to do.

I wish you well on your hunt for internet freebies.

Mig Welding Tip #19 - A Down and Dirty Tip to Avoid Mig Welding Problems

August 18th, 2008 by conductor

When things go wrong using a Mig Welding machine, its not 100 things going wrong. It’s always 1 or 2 things causing your Mig welding problems… and it’s almost always only one thing at a time.

The absolute #1 mig welding problem is a bad ground. Let me tell you a secret: your Mig welding machine is a cold hearted SOB! It does not care if you have a bad ground. It just keeps pumping out welding wire anyway. If you have ever pulled the trigger on a mig gun and it went Pop! Pop! Pop! and sounded like a drive by shooting, you probably had a bad ground. generic Viagra take heart! It’s not all your fault and it’s an easy fix.

Mig welding machine manufacturers are in hot competition these days and just seem consolidate student debt cut corners on their ground clamps by not making them out of the best materials. Have you seen them? I mean please! They are so wimpy. But you can easily remedy the problem without even buying a new and better ground clamp.

Just get yourself some old welding lead or ground cable and cut off about two feet of cable. Then Strip off the insulation and tape the ends with electrical tape. Fold it in half and put the ends in a vise. Stick a screwdriver in the loop and twist it pretty tight. (When you are done it will look kind of like a French twist pastry.) Now you have a cool tool that gives you a constant ground. Why?

· Because it’s copper, the best instant auto insurance of electricity.

Historical Fiction Set In Ancient Sumer - Secret Of The Scribe By Jennifer Johnson Garrity

August 16th, 2008 by conductor

I always loved to supplement history studies with historical fiction. I found picture books and novels aplenty while studying Greece and Rome, the Renaissance and Reformation, or the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. But ancient Sumer? The closest I could get was the story of Gilgamesh, but it Last House on the Left an epic, not a novel, and not nearly so appealing to eight- to twelve-year-old girls!

Actually, both girls and boys alike will delight in Secret of the Scribe, the first historical novel about ancient Sumer I’ve seen. Author Jennifer Johnson Garrity transports the reader back 5000 years to the time of Abraham and the bustling city of Ur. Told in first person, it’s the story of a young girl, Tabni, who grows up in comfort as a slave to a Sumerian queen-until a great calamity forces her to flee the palace by night and make her way into the world alone.

Don’t we love The Boxcar Children and My Side of the Mountain, where the courageous protagonists must live resourcefully on their own? This universally appealing theme appears in Secret of the Scribe as well. As the young scribe Tabni weaves her narrative, the reader journeys with her by boat down the broad Euphrates River to the Sumerian trade center of Ur, where we experience both the grandeur of the gleaming ziggurat and the stench of narrow back alleys.

Tabni’s tale draws us in. We feel her grief and hunger as she finds herself homeless in a new world. We discover her pluck and courage as she forms a daring plan while living alone in secret. And we taste Tabni’s fear of vengeance from the many gods she tries desperately to appease.

In true “historical novel” fashion, Secret of the Scribe teaches the reader about life and customs in Ur-how people in this ancient civilization lived, ate, dressed, worked, and worshipped. Italicized words sprinkled throughout the book point to a glossary of unfamiliar terms, making it easy for the teacher or homeschooling parent to incorporate vocabulary into their Sumerian studies.

Secret of the Scribe would also make a great springboard into arts and crafts. The book introduces students to Sumerian trades such as weaving, metalwork, jewelry-making, and pottery, opening up mesothelioma law firm sorts of possibilities for accompanying projects. Trained as a scribe, Tabni writes on clay tablets, suggesting a project that dovetails art with learning about Sumerian cuneiform.

I’m so pleased to have discovered Secret of the Scribe, published by brimwoodpress.comBrimWood Press. This little novel will meet a tremendous need for teachers and parents who hope to use historical fiction to broaden their children’s understanding of ancient Sumer.

Why Satellite TV Beats Cable TV Hands Down

August 13th, 2008 by conductor

Before the start of satellite television in the mid 90s, the American public had two very limited options for enjoying TV. They could either watch the free-to-air programs offered by the established TV channels, or they could subscribe to one of the cable TV companies and enjoy their range of programs.

When satellite TV came along in the mid-90s the choice that viewers had suddenly became much Mainman Together with the multitude of improvements that came as a result of the advanced technology of dish TV, the public were able to view a much larger range of programs. Families wanting to expand their TV options were now confronted with a choice - satellite TV or cable TV.

TV signal transmission differentiates the two types of systems and hence the ability of technical changes to be adopted. The cable system delivers the TV signal to each household via an underground cable passing each house with an offshoot being connected to the subscribers’ TV. The satellite system uses a television dish located at or near the top of the house, with an unimpeded view of the southern sky. Transmission The Great Silence from a satellite Nanny and the Professor above the Caribbean Sea.

Today satellite TV is becoming more and more popular than cable and will become the principal means of TV transmission in the very near future. There are many reasons for this but each on its own is sufficient to persuade people to switch to satellite.

1) Satellite TV is cheaper than cable for a comparable level of service and program options. This price advantage will be reinforced in the future as the cable companies have been increasing their fees at a greater rate.

2) Satellite TV is technically capable of providing a much larger number of channels than cable thus offering a wider range of viewing choices for all members of the family. As well as the programs from the free-to-air channels, satellite TV offers all the family favorites plus many more. All interests are cost u less car insurance - world news; national, regional and local news and current affairs; documentaries; light entertainment; a wide range of sports events; movies; and something for children of all age groups. The technology of satellite TV allows for a greater number of channels than cable - a positive factor in persuading families to subscribe to satellite.

3) Satellite TV channels are transmitted in 100% digital format for picture and sound. This gives a much more precise and cleaner picture and sound than most of the channels provided by cable.

4) When considering continuity of service and problems with loss of transmission, then satellite TV is far more reliable than cable. Indeed this is one of the major causes why families are leaving cable and switching to satellite TV. Loss of transmission problems are generally caused by poor weather conditions - a situation that doesn’t affect transmission by satellite.

5) The acquisition of TV subscribers is a very competitive business - a situation of immense benefit to the public leading to all sorts of deals and free offers. All of the installers working for the satellite TV providers offer free equipment, free installation, and in many cases other free deals and offers for new subscribers.

6) Many customer surveys have been carried out comparing the level of service given by TV companies, both satellite and cable. These regular surveys clearly show that the installers of satellite TV systems regularly out-perform their cable competitors.

7) The superior technology of satellite transmission means that internet access is possible via this means, giving a more reliable and speedier connection.

8) With the ever-increasing advances in transmission technology, satellite is in a better position to take full advantage of any future changes.

For those families considering a change from cable, or else moving on from bring solely reliant on the free-to-air channels, now is the time to do it. The installers of satellite TV are still offering some great deals for new subscribers and their sales service is as good as ever.

With only two major satellite TV providers in the market the intense level of competition ensures that monthly fees and charges will always remain competitive, and that the high standard of programming will continue.

DIRECTV or Dish Network - Which is Best For You?

August 11th, 2008 by conductor

Most of us have found tax incorporated benefits of satellite television. Cable providers are expensive, their range limited and, let’s face it; their programming is less than it should be. Ditto for air to ground TV (do people still watch that?). So, that leaves hungry TV viewers with the only viable option: satellite television providers. There are two providers of note, two powerhouse corporations battling for supremacy and prominence on your TV. Which should you choose, though, DirecTV or Dish Network?

The answer to that depends on your Houndcats needs. Both satellite providers offer wide coverage, both providers offer DVRs and HD TV programming. So, which is better? Which one will fill that empty, dark television screen with sports action, drama and comedy? Who should you Byrdman to fill your home with the “life” that only television can provide?

To start off let’s establish that the technology behind providing digital broadcasting and delivering a solid product is fairly even between the two. Both providers offer great deals with the exception of their exclusive programming. They are both arguably better then the cable providers in terms of depth of programming options, technology and value.

So let’s directstartv.com/compare_directv/directv_vs_dish.htmlcompare DirecTV to Dish Network shall we? Let’s consider the contenders. In this corner, we have the still reigning, heavy weight champ, DirecTV. This company is the largest, both in terms of channels offered and in number of subscribers. Almost 300 channels of television programming are offered through DirecTV and over 90 HD channels. In addition, you have your choice of DVR platform. The Plus HD DVR is one of the most innovative devices out there right now and can even be made to work in tandem with your PC, storing and playing music and pictures from your hard drive.

In the other corner, we have the challenger, the “underdog” if you will. Dish Network is younger than DirecTV, with fewer channels and fewer subscribers. In many senses of the word, they are “less” than the competition. Dish Network, however, is the fastest growing satellite provider in the nation. They currently offer far fewer channels (both standard definition and HD) than their competitor does, but will that change? Dish Network is definitely making strides to keep up with heightened hardware deals. Should you bank on the underdog simply because they are the underdog?

While this might work well in sports, horseracing and boxing, it probably isn’t a good idea where your television programming is concerned. Just because Dish Network has more potential, more growth opportunities, that doesn’t mean that they are the best choice for your home. Why, you ask? Why subject yourself to a lower quality offering simply because they may or may not be the winner in years to come? DirecTV offers the best range of channels, the best HD programming and the best options where DVRs are concerned. In addition, DirecTV boasts far more exclusive programming, from insanely popular sports packages, such as NFLN (NFL Network) to March Madness coverage.

The benefits to DirecTV don’t stop there, though. They offer more channel packages, a la carte programming for those “special” situations and the most forthcoming packages (case in point: The MTN. coverage coming this fall). So, we have established who beats out the competition in every sense but growth potential. Even that is simply a numbers game, though. Growth is not necessarily indicative of true potential or even quality programming for that matter.

Landscape Painting Can Be Child’s Play

August 10th, 2008 by conductor

From the time I was a kid I was an early riser, and from a young age I could not be persuaded to stay in bed after six AM, despite my parents’ best creative efforts to try and get me to sleep in a bit later. They eventually gave up trying and from then on I was allowed to get up, under the condition that I watch television quietly by myself. The main issue with this scenario was that at the time Sunday morning television was not really geared towards youngsters, car insurance cover I started watching a show in which a rather odd Frenchman was going about painting landscapes using oil colors.

The only reason I watched this show was because at that time of the morning I had a choice between the weird Frenchman and his oil paintings, the shopping channels or religious programs. With time I actually became quite fascinated by his comforting voice and the way he was creating pretty landscapes with his colors and brushes. I became so fascinated, in fact, that I felt an urge to try it out myself, as he was making it look quite effortless. As a young Ciaagent however, my art arsenal was limited to crayons.

It became my Sunday morning routine: I would get up at six in the morning, switch the TV on to the oil painting show and sit on the sofa, armed with paper and pastels to try and copy the landscapes showing in the program. I got some pretty impressive drawings, but didn’t quite compare with the sort of work the show host was churning out week in week out. It dawned on me that what I needed was oil paints, but being seven years old it proved to be a tall order: I couldn’t quite just go out and buy some, and I didn’t quite manage to get my parents to buy some for me either.

Looking around for a creative solution to my problem I thought that my mother’s make-up bag would be a fairly good approximation of an artist’s oil painting materials. I found a disused box to mix the colors on as if it was a pallet. I then set out mixing all the various types of make-up with a smooth texture that I could find: I also discovered that I could also tone down the color of lipstick, blusher and eye-shadows by simply adding a bit of light tan foundation. The blusher came with an application brush that turned out to be perfect for painting, and the mascara brush helped achieve really neat texture and shading.

My artistic future was however nipped in the bud as soon as my mom realized what had happened a few hours later, and I was told never to paint again. This also Elvis my next idea which was to start painting using foodstuff. In the end I stopped watching the show altogether as I found it way too frustrating not to be able to come up with my own creations too.
